Nyakongo Sustainable Village Initiative (Nyakongo2030) aims at mobilizing university/college students to lead other stakeholders in transforming the poor rural community of Nyakongo, Kenya, into a model sustainable village. It will ensure that the sustainable social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing of Nyakongo residents is attained by the year 2030.
Nyakongo 2030 is a youth-led, collaborative and integrated rural-ecovillage development project in Kenya. Nyakongo Sustainable Village Partnership will develop key projects through strategic planning-in-action methodology. The projects will target ten key sectors: water and sanitation, enterprise, agriculture, health, energy; education, natural resource management, culture and recreation; transport, infrastructure. Each project will be implemented in phases. Each project will entail three elements of volunteerism: fundraising, research and actual ‘doing’.
